Thank you for joining us for the 4th annual Mancos Renaissance Faire. Last year the attendance at the Faire exceeded 3,200 excited and satisfied faire goers.
On Festival days in medieval times, merchants brought their wares, along with their families, in wooden carts to the base of the city’s walls. They set up a temporary shelter where their families slept, ate and played. Guildsmen worked at their crafts whenever business was slack, and everyone sold hard, shouting their wares at passersby. Festival days were a joyous gathering of people, a bustling social event, of color, music, laughter, and endless commotion. This describes the atmosphere of what we are trying to create at Ye Ole Mancos Village.
1. Parking for performers is outside the circular park entrance area…along the road and perhaps on private land further information will be forth coming.
2. Temporary parking within Cottonwood Park’s circular drive-though in designated locations is available for up to 10 minutes for drop off and pick up of equipment. If you over extend your times in this area you will be ticketed and towed…so be careful to not abuse this option.
3. All over night living history camps must provide own security and you may sleep in your camp during Faire. If you plan to camp, your name must be on Charlene’s camper roster. Call her at 970/533-7569 or 560-0222 or email
cswansen@mancos.lib.co.us. View camping guidelines here.
4. You must be in costume at all times that the gate is open. Please make this a priority; we are hosting a time period event. View clothing suggestions here.
5. Please do your best to speak in medieval style. This is not as important as the costumes but it does add to the atmosphere. Suggestions and phrases are available here.
6. All non-period equipment in your camp or yard must be out of site and hearing of the patrons. Please keep all phones turned off or on vibrate mode.
7. Your camp must be a period tent, wooden booth or awning. You may put up pop-ups with metal legs but please make sure the legs have some kind of fabric sleeves to cover them.
8. All performers and performing groups must have a signed Hold Harmless Agreement on file with us.
9. Performer’s animals are permitted in keeping with the medieval atmosphere of the event. The animals’ owner(s) is (are) responsible for continuous cleaning up after said animals. Animals in the Medieval Menagerie are not to be harmed or mistreated in any way. Animals that are liable to bite or harm other participants must be muzzled. Animals must be on a leash, with an attached person, at all times. Animals may not be left in cars, tied to trees etc. (The general public may not bring animals to the faire.) Walking your pet along the river trail and outer perimeter of the park only is strongly recommended.
10. This year there is a small admission fee. Please send a list of names closely associated with your performance before June 24th. This list will be at the admission Gate and you and your group will have admission fees waived. Otherwise you may have to pay $2.00/adult, $1.00/youth. Seniors and children under 6 are free.
11. Check in for camp set up times are Friday June 27th 10:00am-5:00pm and Saturday June 28th 8:00-9:00am.
We look forward to a wonderful Faire with your participation.
